Instagram posts are now showing up on Google.

In case you missed it: Instagram posts are now showing up on Google search results.

If you are a tourism operator or promoting an event, this is major news. Because who doesn’t love free SEO, right? Here are my top tips for making the most of this update and seeing more of your posts on Google:

Think like a tourist

What would you search if you were planning a trip to your region, looking for something to do, or trying to find an event to attend? Use those key search terms in your captions, text overlayed on your Reels, and in your hashtags.

Location, Location, Location

Always add your location to your Instagram posts and mention where you are as much as possible in your captions. Also use location specific hashtags like #TweedHeadsNSW

Let FAQ’s Guide You

What are people asking you in your messages and comments, or via email? If you have a front desk team, what are people asking them over the phone or when they are considering a purchase? Find that out - and start building those questions and answers in to your content. Because the truth is, if people are asking you those questions… they are probably asking Google!
